Qatar: Health officials requiring all visitors to obtain health insurance covering COVID-19-related treatment and quarantine expenses as of Feb. 1/update 54

As of Feb. 1, Qatar is requiring all travelers visiting the country to obtain health insurance from an insurance company approved by the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) covering their intended period of stay. Such policies must cover COVID-19-related treatment and quarantine expenses, emergency medical assistance and treatment, and repatriation in the event of a visitor’s death. The country’s other COVID-19-related restrictions have remained largely unchanged since Jan. 3.
Domestic Measures
Individuals are required to wear face masks in healthcare facilities and on public transportation. Admission to certain locations, including healthcare facilities, is contingent on one’s COVID-19 status on the Ehteraz app. Persons testing positive for COVID-19 are required to isolate either in a medical facility or at home for seven days, depending on symptoms. International Travel Restrictions
All travelers arriving from China, including Hong Kong, are required to present a negative result from a PCR test taken within 48 hours before travel. Travelers may be subject to thermal screening or temperature checks upon arrival.
Authorities could introduce new restrictions or amend existing ones depending on disease activity over the coming days and weeks.
Advice
Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays.
