An increasing amount of evidence suggests that a healthy lifestyle is linked to better thinking skills later in life. But few studies have looked at healthy lifestyle effects on memory in particular, and none have considered the effects on memory in people with a genetic risk for Alzheimer’s disease. Now a study from China offers insight. The study, published online Jan. 25, 2023, by BMJ, involved more than 29,000 people without dementia (average age 72). Participants initially underwent cognitive testing as well as genetic testing for genes known to raise risk for Alzheimer’s, and reported how well they stuck to six healthy lifestyle habits (eating a healthy diet, exercising, not smoking, not drinking alcohol, being socially active, and engaging in brain-challenging activities). Participants were followed for 10 years, periodically reporting their lifestyle habits and undergoing cognitive testing. At the end of the study, people who stuck to at least

Kaley Cuoco “never thought” she would become a mom.

The 37-year-old actress gave birth to her daughter Matilda in March, and Kaley admits that motherhood has changed her attitude towards the charity and philanthropy work she does.

Kaley – who recently attended a fundraiser in Malibu for the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation, which funds research into the life-threatening skin disease – told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “You know, I never thought I would be a mom.

“So I see these kids out there and I just can’t imagine if my kid was hurting all the time, you know?

“I felt this way before but obviously, you don’t know until you have one. So totally take it for granted so there’s not another that gets afflicted by this. We just have to do something.”

Kaley’s outlook has been transformed by her

Our post-pandemic social lives in data

There’s more to a healthy life than workouts and a balanced diet, and that’s something called friends.

Friendships are not just fun and comforting, they’re also fundamental to our wellbeing. Researchers have actually found that the health risks of prolonged loneliness can be as toxic as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

Friendships should be a priority in our lives, but recent data suggests we have fewer close friendships than we once did.

In the United States, for example, the share of people saying they have no close friends at all went up from 3 per cent in 1990 to 12 per cent in 2021, according to surveys by Gallup and the Survey Center on American Life.

Similarly, the number of respondents said they could count 10 people or more as their close friends went down from 33 per cent in 1990 to 13 per cent in 2021.

    Interestingly, the
